Are you Vegan or Vegetarian?

There were some discoveries during my trip to London at the end of the year. It was a VG (vegan) recipe on the restaurant menu. The number of vegetarian foods has been increasing little by little in Japan, but vegan foods are still not familiar in Japan, so I remember searched the meaning of “vegan food” on my iphone.  This time I investigated the difference between vegan and vegetarian. Briefly, it is divided into the following.

★ Vegetarian: As everyone already knows, a culture that mainly eats vegetables (people)

★ Vegan: Culture (people) that mainly eats vegetables without eating meat + milk products + eggs

To become vegan, divide into three ways to start by deciding which one applies to you.

① Viewpoint of animal welfare

② Perspective of global environment

③ Viewpoint of health improvement

Therefore, if you start from the viewpoint of animal welfare in ①, the food choice will change, such as not eating honey = preventing the extinction of bees. Instead of eating big animals meat, such as cows and pigs, you eat small fish and start by deciding your own rules. (It’s best not to think too deeply and not be able to continue, right?)

For me, I have started diet with no strict rules of vegan. I eat both cows and pigs, but the amount is absolutely smaller than I used to eat. I also drink normal cow milk, but sometimes I choose soy milk. I mainly focus vegetable-based diet.

Eating is a daily human act. We do every single day.  With a little change of consciousness, that food category what you eat will continue it for decades. If the global warming is happening because our food war, it is important to be aware of it and we should take small actions. I use bad word but that if we just eat without consciousness these, a robo can do it too. Let’s try to think about “consciously eating”.
